Getting Started

This guide will walk you through the steps needed to get set up for the development of blueprints and complete exporters. Almost everything is configured out of the box for you when you install Supernova for the first time, so you can start building immediately - but there are a few additional things to consider before getting started.

Setup Guide

Supernova ships with all developer tools bundled together and sets them up as soon as you install it. Note that the developer tools are contained within Supernova, so no extra permissions are needed.

To run any exporter, you'll need Supernova Desktop Studio version V9 or later, which you can download here. Supernova V9 or later requires Mac OS X 10.14 or newer.

Moving the binary to the/Applicationsfolder right after installation is recommended to allow for automatic updates, which often contain significant improvements or fixes to reported issues. We strongly recommend allowing automatic background updates when prompted.

Additional Setup

If you plan on developing your own exporter (or modifying existing ones to better suit your needs), you might consider setting up a public GitHub repository to host it so others can easily access it. This also allows you to version the exporter properly, so all updates are distributed to everyone through Supernova's auto-update system.
